First IMAT exam estimates for the academic year 2024-2025
First IMAT exam estimates for the academic year 2024-2025
Yesterday, Thursday 26/9, the first anonymous IMAT results were announced.
Although the list is long, at EMFASIS we tried to "decode" it by focusing on the Average, which seems differentiated compared to last year's results.
To illustrate: last year it was around 29/90, while this year it seems to be initially close to 40-43 /90.
BIOLOGY
The Biology section of the IMAT 2024 examination was one of the easiest in recent years. The majority of the questions focused on basic concepts and definitions, with the main emphasis on cell biology. It did not include particularly challenging questions, making it accessible to a wide range of students. Each year the syllabus includes a section on Anatomy and Physiology - a comprehensive and well-structured collection of questions on human systems and mechanisms - which was not seen this year.
CHEMISTRY
The Chemistry section of the IMAT 2024 examination included 15 questions, focused on the fundamentals of chemistry. Compared to previous years, the exam seemed to maintain the same topics, but with a greater emphasis on the applications of the basic concepts and the connection between theoretical knowledge and practical problems (exercises).
PHYSICS
The physics section consisted of 6 questions from topics such as dynamics, kinematics, thermodynamics, etc. The level of difficulty of the physics questions was varied. There were very easy formula based questions, some medium level questions and one quite difficult question. In 2023 there were 5 questions and there was a significant difference between the type of questions asked in both years. This highlights the unpredictable nature of the IMAT exam.
MATHEMATICS
The Mathematics section this year contained 7 questions and according to our teachers it was not too difficult. The questions largely followed the trend of the previous year. It is obvious that subjects like Algebra and Geometry performed very well. There were questions from all the main modules as given in the syllabus.
LOGIC
In the Logic section of IMAT 2024, the emphasis on logical thinking and problem solving seemed to remain constant, with problems varying and requiring regular practice rather than theoretical study. The main aim of the questions is to assess critical thinking and the ability to solve complex problems without the need for specialist knowledge. Compared to previous years, the overall structure and approach of the questions did not change drastically.
GENERAL KNOWLEDGE
The Comprehension and General Knowledge section in IMAT 2024, , included among other questions focused on general knowledge topics such as who is the author of the novel "The Lighthouse". It is a section that - as its title suggests - contains traditional knowledge topics from a variety of fields.
